say that he's currently with the president on the issue of iran just isn't factual. it isn't accurate. he is far to the left of president obama and obama's policies on iran and has been for some time whether it's opposing sanctions. that is something we are currently engaged in, whether it's wanting iranian membership in the world trade organization. it's refusing to designate hezbollah and other iranian groups as terrorist organizations. these are all things that put him in contrast with the current administration's policies. so i think the line of questions on iran from the left and the right are warranted. >> he said in that 112-page questionnaire, and i quote, smart,s unprecedented, and effective sanctions against the iranian regime. he would continue to implement and he supports what congress and the obama administration have adopted in recent years. >> that is a new position and that's the right position to take. but it flies in the face of a number of votes. it was really rich to suggest all of this time we've been taking him out of context and using one vote or one qu

noted when he was addressing the issue he talked about president obama's record. he really didn't directly address. he said, you know, i have been a friend of israel. he didn't deny he made the statements. he couldn't. he deferred to president obama's record. i think that's the safest bet for him. he took the right tact in terms of the answer there. >> all right. fran townsend, thank you. appreciate it. >>> an oscar-nominated movie is finding a receptive audience in a surprising place. talking about "argo." hollywood's take on a real life mission to rescue american hostages from iran back in 1979. the film is officially banned by the iranian government. but apparently a hot commodity under ground. bootleg dvds are all over the place. there is reportedly much debate about the accuracy of the story. bootlegged movie distributors say it is the biggest seller in years. >>> real life story of egypt's revolution is being written but there is one thing that's clear. the young behind the arab spring uprising are afraid that their voices are still not being heard. their anger boiling over

federal subsidies as a result of that. the obama administration told "the journal" this morning that the regulations are still being written. scott, this one is one of those issues that is still being sorted out in the regulatory process, and we'll see where it all shakes out. a lot of unions though seem to have their noses out of joint saying, hey, we supported this law. now we want these regulations to be written in a way that we can live with and that doesn't give us unexpected costs that we weren't prepared to deal with. >> eamon, thanks so much. >> let's keep the focus on health care. aetna's stock under pressure on the heels of fourth-quarter earnings numbers. profits slipping 50% due to the cost of patient care. >> and what about the broader impact as this has an effect on business in general. aetna ceo mark bertolini joins us now. unions pushing back on obama care, and their call for subsidies. is it possible that congress will take up some type of legislation that would mitigate some of the sharper edges of the affordable care act, what do you think? >> i think the first thing t

changer in the competition between she and president obama. how important would it be to get immigration reform done and then set the table for her to take on another big issue in this country? which of course could be health care, which of course could be women's rights. >> absolutely. and the health care plan we have right now is a lot closer to the one she proposed during the campaign because barack obama was against the individual mandate and she was for it. but yeah, on immigration, if immigration reform were to get done, i think republicans are even starting to realize this, it would redound mostly to the benefit of democrats. latinos are trending toward the democratic party on most issues. i think it would help republicans only marginally and democrats a lot more. it would get that issue off the table. if she were to run, which a lot of people think she will, i think she will, she is going to have a lot of successes in the previous administration to kind of push off and run. >> joy reid, great to have you on "the ed show." thank you. >> good to be here. >> a lot more coming up in
